The seventh stage of the 2022 season will be held this Saturday 23rd of July in Zillertal. The elite field features a host of international athletes all eager to battle it out on the highly technical course.

Schlegeis 3000 has caught the attention of the world’s current leading skyrunners, and for many good reasons. The 34 km route with 2,400 meters of vertical gain, begins on the Schlegeis Dam and crosses the Austrian-Italian border before reaching the highest point at around 3,000 meters.
“The Schlegeis 3000 Skyrace is one of the most technical and demanding skyraces in Europe and we are delighted to be part of a Skyrunner World Series calendar with the world’s most renowned skyraces. This allows us to bring our event closer to the best skyrunners in the world”, comments race organiser, Roland Eberl. “The course offers technical trails at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters at the foot of the glacier in the midst of the breathtaking Alps. Snowfields, via ferrata elements, summit grades and rope passages offer the athletes the complete range of skyrunning elements.”
Due to this being its first year in the circuit, Schlegeis 3000 Skyrace has been given Tier Two Status, therefore awarding less points towards the overall ranking and less SkyMasters qualification places. This has, however, clearly not impacted the level of competition and we can look forward to seeing big names being the starting line.
The men’s race includes the likes of: Pere Aurell (team Merrell) of Spain, Martin Anthamatten (team Adidas Terrex) of Switzerland, Sebastian Felkensteiner (team Dynafit) of Austria and Luca Pescollderungg (team La Sportiva) of Italy.
The women’s field is equally as impressive. Reigning champion, Stephanie Kröll (team Scarpa) of Austria, will defend her title against the likes of Lindsay Webster (team Craft) of Canada, Sanna and Lina El Kott (team Merrell) of Sweden and rising star, Martina Cumerlato (team La Sportiva) of Italy.
The race begins this Saturday morning at 06:30 am (local time). Tune into the Skyrunning Instagram, Facebook and Twitter all weekend to get the latest updates.
