Following Ueda Skyrace in Japan last weekend, the Merrell Skyrunner® World Series continues its round-the-world trip, with the next stop being the Corendon Tahtali Run to Sky in Turkey, the 8th stage of the 2025 season.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Mediterranean and the towering Tahtalı Mountain, this internationally acclaimed race will welcome athletes from around the world to Kemer, Antalya.
The unique uphill route takes the athletes from Çıralı beach to the heights of one of the region’s highest peaks at 2,365 meters above sea level, following the Lycian way from the Hellenistic period. With 27 kilometers and 2,600m+ of pure uphill running from point to point, it is set to be an epic event.
Race Organiser, Polat Dede, comments: “Kemer is an incredibly beautiful location and through being part of the Merrell Skyrunner World Series, we want to introduce it to the world. Our main goal is to increase the interest in Skyrunning in Turkey. As of 2024, the number of people running on the trails in our country has exceeded 10,000. When we look at 2015, this number did not exceed 100.
We are positive that participants will be blown away by the beauty of the route this weekend. When the athletes look back while running, they will understand more clearly how magnificent their surroundings are. Let’s see if we can get a time under 3 hours in 2025!”
The elite field features top skyrunners from around the world with their eyes on points for the overall and U23 ranking.
The women’s lineup includes the 2024 overall champion, Anastacia Rubtsova; Naiara Irigoyen of Spain (Open Team); Marcela Vasinova of the Czech Republic; and three strong U23 stars, Carrodilla Cabestre of Spain (Open Team), Nikola Matkova of Slovakia (team Zolnà Skyrunning), and Staša Đorđević of Serbia.
The men’s field is equally as strong, featuring Alain Santamaria of Spain (Open Team), Jose Manuel Quispe of Peru (team Merrell / CIVA), Pascal Egli of Switzerland, Nico Molina of Spain (team La Sportiva), Morgan Elliot of the USA (team Merrell), and the strong uphill U23 runner, Tom Spencer of the UK (team Inov8).
The Corendon Tahtali Run to Sky will take place on the 10th of May at 07:00 am (local time).
