THE LEGENDARY SKYRACE DES MATHEYSINS RETURNS AS THE 5TH RACE OF THE MSWS

The dramatic peaks of the French Alps are once again set to test the world’s most daring skyrunners as Skyrace des Matheysins returns for another adrenaline-fueled event. The 10th edition of the race, taking place this weekend in St Honore, is the 5th stop of the 2025 Merrell Skyrunner® World Series, welcoming, as usual, an incredible field of elite international athletes and passionate local competitors to one of the most iconic and technical races on the circuit.

Known for its rugged terrain, steep climbs, and breathtaking views, the race has quickly become a favorite among the global skyrunning community. However, due to recent adverse weather conditions and in the interest of athlete safety, organizers have announced a modification to the original course. While the spirit and challenge of the event remain fully intact, certain exposed ridge sections have been rerouted to ensure a safer yet still demanding experience for all participants.

The new route is 25.5km with 2,000m+ with one small change where the race will avoid the technical, exposed section on L’Oreille du Loup.

“The safety of our athletes is always our top priority,” said Race Director Olivier Coudert. “After careful consideration and consultation with our mountain safety teams, we’ve made adjustments that preserve the technical and competitive nature of the race while avoiding areas affected by unstable conditions.”

Despite the changes, the 2025 Skyrace des Matheysins promises all the elements that define true skyrunning—grueling ascents, fast descents, and an electrifying atmosphere in the heart of the Alps. This year’s edition is set to be even more competitive as the race plays a pivotal role in the overall rankings of the Merrell Skyrunner® World Series.
