THE ULTIMATE ALPINE TEST: PREPARE FOR A STACKED FIELD AT THE HOCHKÖNIG SKYRACE

This weekend, the 31st of May, the Merrell Skyrunner® World Series heads to Maria Alm, Austria, for the Hochkönig Skyrace, the 10th stage of the 2025 circuit.

The Hochkönig Skyrace is renowned for its incredibly scenic yet demanding route through the Austrian Alps. Runners face a significant challenge on this 32km course with 2740m of elevation gain, which crosses the “Steinerne Meer” – a limestone plateau within the iconic Hochkonig Massif. It promises dramatic views and equally dramatic racing. In case of bad weather, a Plan B route, which has been used the last two years, will be implemented.

As the 10th race of the 2025 season, the circuit is drawing closer to the halfway mark and the competition is heating up in the overall ranking and many of the world’s best athletes have arrived in Maria Alm ahead of Saturday’s race. Both the male and female fields are stacked.
