THE SKYRUNNER® WORLD SERIES 2024 WILL VISIT SOUTHERN FRANCE FOR GORGES DU TARN SKYRACE 

Next season, skyrunners from around the world will experience the beauty of the Massif Central, halfway between the Pyrenees and the Alps, as French event, The Gorges du Tarn SkyRace, is announced as a NEW Skyrunner® World Series 2024 race.


Lozère and the stunning mountains of Southern France will host a new Skyrunner® World Series event, it has been announced todayThe Gorges du Tarn SkyRace is the only race of its kind in the Massif Central, halfway between the Pyrenees and the Alps. The 24 kilometre race with 2,000 meters of elevation gain is challenging for its technical, rocky trails and wild vegetation, all set in a unique landscape recognised by UNESCO. 


The Gorges du Tarn SkyRace is part of the Lozère Trail weekend which will celebrate its 21st edition next year. The Lozère Trail consists of five events adapted to all levels with over 1,400 participants in total.

Race director, Phil Miguel, comments: “By joining the SWS in 2024, we want to promote the Massif Central, our mountain range, as one of the great trail regions, just like the Alps. We want to showcase our authentic landscapes and wilderness trails, and share the soul of our exceptional region with skyrunners from all over the world. We also want to establish our event, which has been organised for over 20 years by volunteers, as a major event in France.We’re delighted to welcome you to our Unesco World Heritage site and invite you to discover the Massif Central. Our wild and technical route will guide you through rocky terrain and untamed vegetation, passing through authentic old villages whose ancient stones will inspire you to surpass yourself.”

The Gorges du Tarn SkyRace will take place on the weekend of the 18th – 19th of May 2024.

The complete calendar and full information on the points system, SkyMasters qualification, and ranking, shall be unveiled at the 2023 SkyMasters on the 28th of October.
