The season-ending championship race of the Skyrunner World Series
The SkyMasters is the championship final of the Skyrunner World Series and the most consequential race on the calendar. Unlike standard SkyRaces, the SkyMasters awards increased points, often reshaping the overall standings and deciding the season’s champions.
The final is traditionally hosted by one of the most demanding mountain races in the series, featuring long distances, steep elevation gain and highly technical terrain. Entry is limited to qualified athletes who have earned their place through consistent performance during the season.
Distance: 42 km
Elevation Gain: 3,800 m+
Terrain: Technical mountain trails, ridgelines and steep descents
Skymasters Final – Loop
For the current season, the SkyMasters Final takes place at Marató dels Dements — a race renowned for its relentless technical terrain and demanding elevation profile. Set within the Serra d’Espadà Natural Park, the course provides a brutal and fitting stage to crown the Skyrunner World Series champions.
Entry to the SkyMasters is limited to athletes who qualify through performance during the Skyrunner World Series season. Qualification ensures that only the strongest and most consistent athletes compete in the championship final.
Athletes qualify by:
Finishing in the top 20 (men or women) of a SkyRace
Completing at least four Skyrunner® World Series races in the current season
Athletes may also qualify automatically by achieving one of the following:
Top-3 (men or women) at a nominated Skyrunner® National Series race
Top-3 (men or women) in the final ranking of a Skyrunner® National Series
Top-3 (men or women) at a Skyrunning Continental Championship
Top-3 (men or women) at a Skyrunning World Championship
Free entries for the highest-ranked athletes in the Skyrunner World Series standings
Discounted entries for athletes ranked just outside the top tier
Full entry fee required for athletes qualifying outside the main ranking thresholds
Free entries for top finishers from Continental and World Championships
Full entry fee required for athletes qualifying through National Series routes
Final entry conditions and benefits are confirmed each season and communicated directly to qualified athletes.
Qualification for the SkyMasters does not guarantee free entry, accommodation or travel support.
Entry conditions are allocated based on an athlete’s ranking and qualification route.
All athletes competing in the SkyMasters are eligible for prize money, regardless of their route to qualification, except where wildcards are stated otherwise. Prize money is distributed following standard anti-doping controls.
At the end of each season, an end-of-season bonus pool is distributed among the highest-ranked athletes in the overall standings, with allocations for senior and youth categories where applicable.

Overall rankings are calculated using an athlete’s best SkyRace results plus their SkyMasters result
Athletes who do not meet minimum race completion requirements may compete but will not receive points
