Royal Ultra Skymarathon Gran Paradiso takes athletes through the wild high-mountain landscapes of Gran Paradiso National Park in northern Italy.
The race covers approximately 55 km with 4,141 metres of ascent, crossing seven mountain passes and reaching around 3,000 metres in altitude. The route combines steep climbs, rocky trails, exposed sections and snow-covered terrain through one of Italy’s most spectacular alpine environments.
Royal Ultra Skymarathon is a demanding high-altitude race that follows mountain paths through the upper Orco Valley and Gran Paradiso National Park.
Much of the route follows historic Royal Hunting Roads, with sections crossing scree, steep slopes, exposed terrain and snowfields. Some of the most technical areas are equipped with ropes or chains during the race.
The course begins at Lake Teleccio and finishes beside Lake Ceresole Reale, with runners repeatedly climbing and descending through rugged alpine terrain.

Turin is the main gateway for reaching the area. Public transport connections run towards Pont Canavese and Ceresole Reale, although travelling by car can make accessing the mountain area easier.

Ceresole Reale is the most convenient base for the race, with accommodation surrounded by the mountains and close to the finish area.
