The official Under 23 ranking of the Skyrunner World Series
The Skyrunner® World Series created the Trofeo Esteban Olivero U23 ranking in memory of Esteban Olivero, a young skyrunner who tragically lost his life at the end of 2023.
With the blessing of his family, the trophy honours Esteban’s spirit, character and passion for the mountains. Esteban joined the Skyrunner World Series in 2023 and quickly made his mark not only through his performances, but through his kindness, sportsmanship and love for the sport.
At just 22 years old, Esteban represented the future of skyrunning. The Trofeo Esteban Olivero U23 ensures that future generations of athletes are supported, recognised and protected as they enter the sport.
The Trofeo Esteban Olivero U23 ranking was created to support, highlight and protect young athletes as they transition into elite-level skyrunning. The category provides a dedicated competitive pathway while promoting a safe and healthy racing environment.

All U23 races are official Skyrunner® World Series events, run on the same courses as senior races, but carefully selected to feature reduced distance and elevation where appropriate.
Key Criteria:
Category open to athletes under 23 years old before the final
Rankings calculated from an athlete’s three best U23 race results plus the final
Points can only be scored at designated U23 (Youth) races
Distance: 17 km
Elevation Gain: 1,100 m+
Terrain: Technical trails, forest paths and steep descents
The U23 Final takes place in the heart of Redes Natural Park, offering a fast and technical route through dramatic autumn mountain scenery. The course blends runnable climbs with steep, demanding descents, creating a thrilling stage for the season’s decisive race.
The U23 Final is the defining race of the Trofeo Esteban Olivero U23. Young athletes must deliver their best skyrunning performance to be crowned the U23 champion, marking a major milestone in their progression within the Skyrunner World Series.
