Canary Islands - Technical Coastal Terrain - Volcanic Trails
Acantilados del Norte is one of the most dramatic and rugged races in the Skyrunner World Series. The course follows steep northern cliffs of the Canary Islands, combining volcanic rock, exposed ridgelines, forest trails and powerful Atlantic winds. Known for its raw beauty and technical challenge, it draws elite skyrunners and ambitious mountain athletes from across the world.
The Acantilados del Norte Skyrace® covers 29 km of rugged coastal terrain on the island of La Palma. The route follows steep cliffside paths, volcanic singletrack and exposed ridgelines that face strong Atlantic winds.
With over 2,000 m of climbing across sharp ascents and fast technical descents, the race demands both power and agility. The terrain shifts between black volcanic rock, forested switchbacks and dramatic cliff-edge trails — making it one of the most diverse and visually striking courses in the Skyrunner World Series.
Most international athletes arrive via Tenerife, then connect by domestic flight or ferry to La Palma.
