The Hochkönigman Skyrace is a high-alpine classic in the Skyrunner World Series, held in the spectacular mountains above Maria Alm, Austria. Known for its mix of steep alpine climbs, panoramic ridgelines and sharp rocky sections, this loop-format race brings athletes deep into the Hochkönig region. With 2,600 m+ of ascent packed into 31 km, it offers an intense blend of physical endurance and technical mountain running.
The Hochkönigman Skyrace ascends into the rugged Hochkönig massif, featuring a blend of steep forest climbs, rocky alpine terrain and long ridge traverses with breathtaking views over the Austrian Alps.
The loop includes rapid technical descents and exposed high sections that demand strong mountain skills and confident footwork. With continuous elevation changes and varied terrain, the race is both fast and punishing — a true alpine testpiece.
Maria Alm is easily accessed from major Austrian airports, with smooth transfers into the Hochkönig region.
