About Livigno Skymarathon

Livigno Skymarathon takes athletes into the high mountains surrounding Livigno in the Italian Alps, close to the Swiss border.

The race is known for steep climbing, exposed ridgelines and technical mountain terrain at high altitude. Large sections of the route sit between 2,500 and 3,000 metres, creating a demanding alpine challenge where runners can encounter snow even during the summer months.

Course Profile & Technical Terrain

Livigno Skymarathon combines sustained climbing with exposed ridges, rocky trails and fast technical descents.

The traditional course is approximately 34 to 36 km with around 2,700 metres of ascent, reaching elevations close to 3,000 metres. Some exposed sections are equipped with ropes or chains, adding another technical element to the route.

Snow can remain on the higher sections, while rapid changes in mountain weather can make conditions considerably different from those in Livigno itself.

Runners need strong climbing ability, confident descending and good concentration across exposed alpine terrain. Check the organiser’s latest information for current course details and equipment requirements.
