The Marató dels Dements is the dramatic Skymasters Final of the Skyrunner World Series, held in the rugged Serra d’Espadà mountains between Eslida and Aín. This loop-format race is famous for its relentless technicality — steep rocky climbs, narrow ridgelines and sharp, fast descents through dense Mediterranean forest. With 3,800 m+ of ascent spread across 42 km, it is one of the toughest and most iconic courses in the calendar, providing a fittingly brutal finale for the world’s best mountain athletes.
The Marató dels Dements pushes athletes into the jagged Serra d’Espadà, a labyrinth of steep, technical mountain terrain unique to the Valencian region.
The course alternates between rocky ridge sections, dense forest trails and aggressive descents that demand precision and agility. The narrow ridgelines and sharp elevation changes make it one of the most physical and mentally taxing races of the season. Its raw, rugged terrain and passionate local atmosphere have cemented it as an iconic Skymasters venue.
