The Mourne Skyline Skyrace is a tough and atmospheric challenge in the Skyrunner World Series, held in the rugged Mourne Mountains above Newcastle, Northern Ireland. This loop-format Skyrace® features steep granite climbs, rocky ridgelines and fast technical descents, all set against dramatic coastal and mountain scenery. With 2,700 m+ of ascent across 35 km, the race is known for its physicality, weather exposure and iconic summit traverses.
The Mourne Skyline climbs through a series of steep rocky steps and open mountain trails toward some of the highest summits in the Mourne range, including Slieve Donard.
Athletes navigate granite boulders, technical ridgelines and narrow paths overlooking the coast. With unpredictable mountain weather, constant elevation change and highly varied terrain, the course is a demanding test of strength, technique and mountain resilience.
Newcastle is accessible via Belfast and Dublin, with easy onward travel to the Mourne Mountains.
