About Tromsø Skyrace

Tromsø Skyrace takes athletes into the rugged Arctic mountains surrounding Tromsø in northern Norway, combining steep climbing with exposed ridgelines and highly technical terrain.

The World Series race covered around 55 to 57 km with approximately 4,700 metres of ascent, crossing three major mountain sections and including the exposed ridge of Hamperokken. The combination of long climbs, rocky terrain and Arctic scenery made it one of the most demanding races on the calendar.

Course Profile & Technical Terrain

Tromsø Skyrace is defined by sustained climbing, steep descents and exposed ridge running through the mountains around Tromsø.

The route includes climbs over Tromsdalstinden and Hamperokken, with the latter reaching around 1,400 metres. Rocky ridges and technical descents require confident movement, strong concentration and good mountain experience.

Conditions can change quickly in the Arctic mountains, adding another challenge to an already demanding course. Runners need to manage their effort carefully across the long distance while retaining enough strength for the final climbs and descents.
