ZacUP Skyrace takes athletes into the rugged mountains above Pasturo in Lombardy, northern Italy, climbing towards the summit of Grigna Settentrionale.
The race covers approximately 27.5 km with 2,650 metres of ascent, packing a huge amount of climbing into a relatively short course. Steep gradients, limestone terrain and technical mountain trails make it a demanding example of classic skyrunning.
ZacUP Skyrace is defined by steep climbing and highly technical terrain. From Pasturo, runners climb towards Grigna Settentrionale at around 2,410 metres, tackling narrow trails, exposed limestone and sections equipped with chains.
Some gradients are exceptionally steep, demanding strong climbing ability and careful foot placement. After reaching the high mountain sections, runners face a fast and technical descent back towards Pasturo.
The combination of loose rock, exposed sections and rapid elevation change means runners need strength, confidence and concentration throughout.
