Kalie McCrystal, a world-class skyrunning and mountain athlete, has gone missing during a reconnaissance of the Matterhorn.
Kalie was last seen on Tuesday 1st of September at 15:45 on her way back to Cervinia from the summit, descending the Lion Ridge. There has been no further contact with her, and no one has seen or heard from her since.
Kalie is a world-class skyrunning and mountain athlete, with many years of experience in high-altitude and technical mountain terrain. She is an accomplished and highly capable mountaineer, with extensive experience navigating challenging alpine environments. She has climbed the Matterhorn previously, and this was not her first experience on the mountain.
Kalie’s family is working directly with mountain rescue services, and search operations are ongoing.
